Composite Deck Calculator

1. What Tools Do You Need?

• Tape measure
• Notepad and pencil (or smartphone for notes)
• Helper optional but helpful 

2. Measure the Deck’s Length and Width

• Use the tape measure to determine the length of the deck frame from one end to the other, following the direction the boards will be installed.
• Next, measure the width of the frame, perpendicular to the direction of the deck boards.
• Record both measurements in your notepad or device for reference.

For decks with angles or multiple levels, divide the layout into smaller rectangles or simple shapes to simplify measurements. The Eco Deck calculator allows you to add up to three sections.

• • Always double-check your measurements.

• • For diagonal or herringbone patterns, increase your waste allowance to 30% because of the extra cuts required.
• • Be aware that the bullnose deck board calculation may not be completely precise when using the Eco Deck calculator, as it doesn’t account for locations where an edge board isn’t needed (such as along the house).
